Throughout history, people have observed phenomena in the sky that they could not explain. Records indicate that such observations occurred as early as two centuries BC. As science developed, it became apparent that many were astronomical phenomena.
Examples of astronomical phenomena include sightings of comets, meteors, or planets. In addition, some of the ufo’s were atmospheric phenomena such as unusual clouds or fireballs. Other sightings can be explained as man-made phenomena such as weather balloons, satellites, or aircraft.
In the 1940’s there was an increase in the number of sightings during World War II. This increase in sightings continued after the war. Many people described seeing saucer shaped objects. Thus the term ‘flying saucers’ became popularized.
The number of sightings was large enough that governments around the world investigated the phenomena.

In addition to seeing unidentified flying objects, some people actually claim seeing an alien from space. Descriptions of these aliens range from little green men to gray skinned human like creatures with large heads.
In extreme cases, some individuals have actually claimed that they were abducted by ufo’s.
